Description
LEO KBS Series Submersible Slurry Pumps (Models 80KBS44 & 100KBS46)
When standard dewatering pumps encounter thick mud, bentonite, or settled mining slurries, their impellers instantly clog and fail. The LEO KBS Series is explicitly engineered to not just pump dirty water, but to actively move thick, abrasive sludge. Representing the heaviest duty slurry extraction tools in the Afrogulf catalog, these massive 3-phase industrial pumps are designed to continuously operate in environments that would destroy lesser equipment.
The defining feature of the KBS series is its integrated high-speed agitator. Forged from incredibly hard High-Chrome Alloy, this specialized blade extends below the pump’s intake. As the 4-pole motor spins, the agitator violently churns the settled mud and solids at the bottom of the pit, whipping them into a fluid slurry that the main impeller can easily swallow and expel. To survive this extreme abrasive wear, the semi-open impeller and suction plate are also constructed from the same premium High-Chrome Alloy, offering drastically superior wear resistance compared to standard cast iron.
Furthermore, the KBS series utilizes a highly efficient slim-line, top-discharge cooling jacket. As the slurry is pumped upward, it flows entirely around the motor casing before exiting the top port. This acts as a continuous liquid cooling system, allowing the pump to be installed in extremely narrow spaces and operate safely without overheating—even when semi-submerged or idling in shallow water.
Key Features & Specifications:
-
High-Chrome Alloy Agitator: Actively churns settled mud, bentonite, and heavy solids into a fluid state, allowing the pump to extract thick slurries without jamming.
-
Top-Discharge Cooling Jacket: Pumped liquid flows around the motor housing, providing continuous cooling and allowing safe operation even when partially submerged.
-
Extreme Abrasion Resistance: The main semi-open impeller and suction plate are forged from extremely hard high-chrome alloy to withstand severe abrasive wear.
-
Low-Speed 4-Pole Motor: Driven by a massive, low-speed 4-pole (380V) continuous-duty motor, which drastically reduces internal wear and extends the pump’s operational lifespan.
-
Double Mechanical Seals: Equipped with premium high-pressure mechanical seals (Silicon Carbide), completely protecting the internal motor during deep, permanent submersion.
Applications: Strictly recommended for heavy industrial slurry extraction, including: pumping bentonite and mud in civil engineering foundation works, open-pit mines and quarries, transferring coal ore and slurries, and severe municipal sewage sludge treatment.
